Hurricane Flossie has intensified into a Category 3 major hurricane off Mexico’s Pacific coast, according to the National Hurricane Center. The storm reached sustained winds of 185 km/h (115 mph) late Tuesday. While Flossie’s core remains offshore, its outer rain bands are already bringing heavy rain, gusty winds, and rough surf to parts of Michoacán, Colima, and Jalisco. As of the latest advisory, Flossie is about 505 km (315 miles) south-southeast of Cabo San Lucas, moving west-northwest at 17 km/h (10 mph). Forecasters expect possible short-term strengthening before the storm weakens later this week over cooler waters.
