They didn’t name her Pear until they found the dog beneath the matted wreckage, barely alive on the side of a Missouri road. At Mac’s Mission, layers of neglect were gently shaved away, revealing fragile skin, scars, and a body exhausted by survival. When the clippers stopped, Pear was smaller and wounded, but finally seen.
