Two men are in custody after deputies say a homeowner caught them breaking into vehicles early Tuesday morning in Far West Bexar County.
Deputies responded around 3 a.m. for a reported vehicle burglary 10100 block of Sawbuck Creek. The caller reported that their vehicle had been stolen, and a family member attempted to locate the vehicle in the area.
Authorities said the suspects fired at a homeowner who confronted them, and the homeowner returned fire. No injuries were reported.
Investigators said the suspects drove off in a stolen vehicle and later used a stolen debit card around 5 a.m. at a business in the 4600 block of Rittiman Road on the East Side. That transaction helped officers locate the suspects and initiate a pursuit that ended near U.S. Highway 90 and Military Drive West.
Deputies arrested 22-year-old Jose Ricardo Herrera III and 19-year-old Davian Valentine Martinez on multiple charges including aggravated robbery, burglary of a vehicle, and evading arrest.
Authorities recovered the stolen vehicle used in the pursuit. No firearms have been recovered.
