Beloved TV star dies of cancer aged just 61

Thomson, known for conducting prominent interviews with political leaders and celebrities, died Sunday morning at 61 after a long battle with cancer, according to CTV News. She was surrounded by family.

She began her career at CTV News Toronto and later became an anchor on CTV News Channel, previously appearing on Canada AM. Earlier, she also served as a news anchor for Global News from 1997 to 2003.
