Tragic Loss in Skydiving Community: Champion Passes Away During Jump

Two-time wingsuit world champion Pierre Wolnik has died at 37 after his parachute reportedly failed during a high-altitude jump over Mont Blanc. The French skydiver leapt from a helicopter on February 7 for a planned free-fall stunt, but witnesses said his chute never opened, and responders later recovered his body near Les Bossons. Wolnik was widely respected in the skydiving community, having won Freefly world titles in 2022 and 2024 and working as a videographer capturing major aerial performances. He was also preparing to represent France at the 2026 FAI World Championships, earning admiration for both his skill and influence in the sport.
