Ransom Note Emerges After Disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s Mom

The investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today host Savannah Guthrie, escalated this week after alleged ransom notes were sent to several media outlets.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said authorities are treating the notes as potential evidence and coordinating with the FBI, though their authenticity has not been confirmed. One note reportedly demanded millions of dollars in Bitcoin and included a deadline and threats, according to TMZ. Officials have not released details, citing the sensitivity of the case.

Investigators believe Guthrie was taken against her will. Her pacemaker reportedly stopped syncing with her Apple devices around 2 a.m. Sunday, and her phone and Apple Watch were later found inside her Arizona home. Authorities say the search is shifting from large-scale ground and air operations to a deeper investigative phase.

No suspects have been identified, and police continue to urge the public to submit any information that could assist the investigation.
