Beloved TV star dies of cancer aged just 61

Veteran broadcaster Thomson, known for interviewing major political and cultural figures, died Sunday at 61 after a long battle with cancer, according to CTV News. Over a career spanning more than three decades, she worked as a reporter and anchor for CTV News Toronto and CTV News Channel, previously anchoring Global News and appearing on Canada AM. She covered major events including the 2016 U.S. election and interviewed stars and world figures from Celine Dion to Donald Trump. Last year she received a lifetime achievement award from Canada’s Radio Television Digital News Association, which praised her as one of the country’s most respected journalists, while Bell Media called her a trusted voice and valued colleague.
